On Deadly Ground (1994) is an action-adventure film directed by and starring Steven Seagal. The story centers on Forrest Taft (played by Seagal), an environmental specialist working for Aegis Oil, a corporation owned by the ruthless Michael Jennings (Michael Caine). Jenningsโ company is constructing an oil rig in Alaska with a strict deadline, which leads him to bypass safety protocols and environmental concerns.

When Taft discovers that Jennings is using faulty equipment that risks a catastrophic explosion and severe environmental damage, he confronts him. Realizing Taftโs knowledge poses a threat, Jennings attempts to have him killed. Taft survives the assassination attempt with the help of an Inuit tribe who nurse him back to health. Inspired by the tribeโs respect for nature and enraged by Jenningsโ greed, Taft launches a one-man war against Aegis Oil.
Armed with his survival skills and combat expertise, Taft sabotages the oil rig to prevent an environmental disaster. The climax involves an explosive showdown between Taft and Jennings, culminating in the destruction of the rig. The film ends with Taft delivering a speech on the importance of environmental responsibility and corporate accountability.
Known for its combination of martial arts action and environmental messaging, On Deadly Ground stands out as Seagalโs only directorial effort to date.
